Personalised Dog Training Tailored to Your Needs
For dogs that do not have any specific behaviour problems but just need help with their general obedience or social skills.
An initial in-person consultation (either at your home or in my private training field) helps me to assess you and your dog’s needs and allow me to develop a tailored training plan for lasting change.
Some Common Training Areas
Every dog is unique but some common training requests are described below. If you require something else then please ask.
Adolescent antics
Has your adolescent dog become a demon? Just like with human teenagers, dog adolescence is a time for exploration and development. Unfortunately it can feel as if everything your dog learnt as a puppy has just gone out of the window and you may feel utterly confused about what to try next.
recall & Loose lead
Recall training is essential for a dog’s safety and strengthens the bond between dog and owner. Importantly a good recall allows for more freedom on walks by giving you some peace of mind. Similarly, being able to walk without your dog pulling your arm off makes being out with your dog more enjoyable and safer.
general manners
Is your dog just rude or have bad manners? Maybe you are exasperated at some rude behaviours your dog has developed, such as stealing from the table, pawing you all the time or rushing past you to escape? It is not unreasonable to expect manners from your dog and also helps to make your dog feel more confident.
What does training involve?
- An initial information gathering session to help us plan and make the most of our time together.
- A targeted plan of action for the way forward.
- Practical written guidance for the training exercises with step-by-step instructions (and occasionally videos).
- Email or WhatsApp support to address queries and seek guidance or reassurance when you need it.
Training takes time and practice, so a minimum of 3 follow-up sessions is suggested to ensure you and you dog have the tools to build on the behaviours as you progress.
Sessions are usually held weekly or fortnightly to allow you time to practice the exercises in between sessions. They can take place in your home, a local park or at my training field near Bordon.
The initial session last 1-1.5 hours and requires an investment of £75. Follow up sessions can be booked individually or as a package (at a discounted rate).
Other Training Opportunities
Training time is a wonderful opportunity to build confidence and strengthen your bond with your dog.
Scent Detection
A great calming activity for any dog; old, young, reactive, nervous. This fun activity is loved by both human and dog. A dog’s nose is incredibly powerful, about 10,000 to 100,000 times more sensitive than a human’s!
It is not surprising then that dogs are used widely across the world to search for drugs, bombs, firearms, contraband, missing people and human remains. Dogs are now even being used for medical alert and detection, detecting cancer cells and Covid in humans!
Rescue & Rehomed Dogs
It can be hard settling into a new routine with new people. These dogs usually come with some emotional baggage and so setting them off to a good start in their new home is really important.
The rehoming centre should offer you support but if not, an initial consult and home visit can help with any initial queries and address your specific issues.
Adolescence & Bad Manners
Just like human teenagers, dog adolescence is a time for exploration and development. Unfortunately it can feel as if everything your puppy knew has been forgotten and you may feel confused about what to try next? It takes patience.

“It is easy to feel overwhelmed as a first time dog owner, but the support and practical advice Lucy gave helped us to feel more in control and the reassurance that things would get better. Lucy was so patient and calm!”
